Hi Guys,

I know my imac 27" TDM mode works, as I've used it many times in the past with macbooks.

I've just switched from having 2 extrenal standard monitors to an apple cinema display connected to thunderbolt.

I have a windows workstation that I hardly need to see what's happening in on it as a RDP into it but from time to time when it hangs shutdown or start up, I would just like to see whats happending.

So that's connected via its 1st graphics card using a DVI cable to a DVI to mini display port. every time I try to TDM on my imac I get a beep and that's it. In fact its picking up the computer as another monitor.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Not sure if there's a workaround been found elsewhere but this thread doesn't sound promising:

I also note the new iMac retina doesn't support Target Display Mode at all - but maybe it will be reintroduced along with the version of Thunderbolt that supports the 5K res.

I spoken to our b2b account manager about it, as I'd just placed an order for serveal 4k monitors. It does support TDM but not at 5K.
