According to Appleinsider Apple are going to updating the Macbook and Macbook Pro in time for the holiday season starting. There has been wide speculation regarding the Macbook Pro been updated on the 25th and with delays on most Macbooks with ship dates of the 26th Sept. it looks likely they'll update both at the same time. It would make sense as when there was speculation regarding the Mac Mini been updated, sundenly the iMac was updated at the same time. Also, the Mac Pro has been updated and this would mean the only thing that hadn't been updated would be the Macbook and I'm sure that wouldn't look good on the Apple record :p

Well thats my thoughts and views, can only but wait and see what turns up...

I think it would be a good time to update the macbook/pro range. The way the iMac range was announced or lackof event announcement makes me think it will just go under the radar at a different time.
I really want it to happen around the 25th as my work is giving me £4k to spend on a laptop and software, so it'll be a shame to order a current 17" and just miss the new processor upgrade.

BeatMaster, didn't you just placed an order for a macbook?

Personally, I'm sure Apple will update the macBook Pro range first to C2D solely due to the amount of C2D chips available and the "premium" of a macBook Pro, I doubt there'll be enough for a simultaneous launch of C2D MacBook/pro. That's my 2 cents anyway.

Just got a MacBook and I've seen benchmarks on them C2D - as impressive as they look, IMO, seeing as the macBook isn't suppose to be a powerhouse for gaming and major 3D rendering, I think the current core duo range is sufficient, it'll be more useful in the macBook pro range.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't a few benchmarks showed that the C2D runs hotter or consume more power? (I can't remember, there was a few hearsay abouts when I was reading up on when to get a macBook)

I did but then realised that Applecare for £58 was a bargain but couldn't ammend the order so had to cancel. Now waiting on money been put back before I can order another one :(
