Does anyone know if the trade in value is different for online vs in-store and also if its different if you purchase a new device at the same time vs getting credit?
Can't find an obvious answer on their website...

The trade in value is the same online and in-store.

I use it all the time, take the old device in. They check it, give you gift voucher onto your Apple account and you use that towards your next purchase.

I don't have a store close to me, so was going to do the online version. Thanks for confirming its the same.
Do you happen to know if you get "more" if you buy a device at the same time? Was going to wait for the next iPad Mini which I'm hoping will be in 2023.

You don't unfortunately as they take the value from the gift vouchers they give you.

I bought three new Apple 2022 devices this month, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9” and a Watch series 8 45mm. I had an iPhone XR 128GB, iPad 9.7” 32GB 6th Generation and a Watch series 4 44mm GPS only.

I sold the iPhone and iPad privately and traded in the Watch. I got £295 for them in total. My Apple Store offered up to £126 for the XR, up to £81 for the iPad 6th gen and up to £81 for the Watch series 4 so £288 trade in price in total if they paid full price.

However as I discovered when I traded in my Watch they don’t give you what they quote, I got £40 for my watch instead of the £81 they quoted and I doubt they would have given me £81 for my iPad. So I was better off selling them privately.

I would have sold my Watch privately too but I had a couple of problems with its pairing to my iPhone and the battery health was down to 83%. On two occasions in the last 3 months I had to pair my Watch to iPhone again because the call function from Watch via phone failed to work, and I didn’t want to sell it to somebody in case they had problems.

I wonder why - For the last few years I've always traded in my stuff when I've bought new and I've always had the quoted price from Apple.

My Apple store is a franchise and not a normal Apple Store. They deal with https://www.fonebank.com/ with their trade ins and I guess some of their quotations are out of date.

To be fair with the Watch Apple UK online quoted up to £50 so I wasn’t expecting to get the “up to £81“ I was quoted online and thought that was rather generous.

What do you mean the Apple Store is a franchise?

Never heard of that.

I thought it either was an Apple Store or it’s not. Or do you mean one of those Micky mouse shops that just sell their stuff in the hope that people think it’s an apple shop? If so no wonder you didn’t get what apple quoted.

I was going to trade in my iMac late 2013 towards a MacBook Pro 14 recently, according to Apple it was worth nothing and advised taking it to a local recycle centre or something like that.

It has 16gb ram and and SSD drive.

Do you guys think it has any value at all, not sure best place to sell.
