Looking to put an apple tree in the garden.

Anyone got good examples of majestic trees, and are they hard to upkeep and cultivate?

Cox's Orange Pippin!
You can either spend £40 and wait 5-15 years (weather & soil conditions will be the biggest variables) or spend much more on a more mature tree. Watch out in summer though - apple trees (most fruit trees) are massive wasp, caterpillar (the poisonous buggers, killed my tortoise!), hornet and other pest magnets. You'll spend ages either picking up fallen fruit before they rot, or throwing stuff at creatures eating it.
