Hi guys.

Ive just got a Apple TV 2, managed to jailbreak it using greenpois0n rc6, however have now come up against a bit of trouble.

So it's all working in the sense that everything is showing up as it should, nito tv is on the menu. However the issue comes when trying to install XBMC. I went into the nito tv menu, clicked install, and it did appear to do this, however nothing shows up on the main screen, did it again, same thing.

Now im trying to do it, via ssh. However keep on coming up with the error message:

E: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list(dist)
E: The list of sources could not be read.

I get the same message when i try to install it again using the install option on nito TV.

Any ideas???

I went and jailbroke it again, and that fault disappeared. However it's still not showing up on the menu.

And now when i try and ssh into it, it says that there might be someone watching me, and wont go any further, lol wtf.

This is what it actually says:

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that the RSA host key has just been changed.

Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in /Users/Home/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
Offending key in /Users/Home/.ssh/known_hosts:2
RSA host key for 192.168.1.101 has changed and you have requested strict checking.

When you've re-jailbroken the ATV you've probably re-generated the SSH host key. Edit the file which is mentioned in the error and remove the entry for 192.168.1.101.

Then try connecting again, you should be prompted to accept the new key which will be added to the known_hosts file.

Thanks,

managed to get it sorted in the end, now just trying to figure out how to get this Night skin working properly. First try with XBMC.

Also i now have a issue of getting no sound through the optical connection. Oh woh is me.

Sorry to thread hijack but I am about to do what you have done in the next couple of days (just waiting for micro usb adaptor)

I dont have a mac (yet) and I am going to jailbreak my apple tv2 with greenpois0n rc6 and want to install xbmc on to it, can you install xbmc through greenpois0n rc6?

forgive me for these noob questions because I have been looking into it but some how can only find instructions for doing it via ssh, what is ssh and can you do it from a windows environment?

thanks in advance :)

Once you've done the jailbreak using greenpois0n it will ask you to connect the ATV2 up to your tv.

Once it's done booting up you should find a Nito TV option in the menu, open this and it will give you a load of other things you can install, one of these being XBMC.

However my install via the dashboard didn't work, i tried it 3 times and eventually had to use SSH. From what i've read you can ssh into the ATV2 from a PC using a program called Putty.

Thanks for that, will try from the dashboard and if that doesn't work I will look into putty
