How is the Apple TV since the October ish release, much been updated etc. as just toying with getting one.

Haven't seen any updates but I don't think there's much more value they could add for £99.

Really happy with mine, but all of my media (music + videos) was already stored in an iTunes-compatible format. I really like the AirPlay functionality.

For £99, it's very good value IMO.

now that XBMC can be installed id be much more happy to get one, we have one downstairs (Gen1) with extra goodies installed and i kind of want that for the bedroom too

I'll look into that

Need to change my drives round on my PC as my performance has dropped and the space will be needed for films..

For me, the perfect method to stream my iTunes content from my Mac, or if its switched off, my iPhone4.

I've had the occasional HD film rental also, but my main reason to purchase was to stream my music into the living room which it does perfectly.

I think there is still more to come from Apple TV, such as the potential for apps (iPlayer maybe?) and also games if the recent rumours are to be believed.

If your media is iTunes compatible buy one, if not look elsewhere :)
