I have a ATV4K Gen1 which won’t turn on. When plugged in, I just get ‘no signal’ on TV. I’ve tried two TVs and two separate sets of leads so I’m pretty sure it’s the ATV.

I can’t see any physical reset option and apple troubleshooting guide suggests reset from settings which I obviously can’t do.

Any ideas?

You've probably already sorted this out at the Apple Store, but you can reset some older Apple TVs by connecting it to a computer with a USB cable (a Mac or iTunes on Windows).

I had to go back and look at the spec pages, I don't remember any of them having one but I suppose having never needed it, there's no reason I'd notice it.

@R4z0r What was the outcome?

sorry for the delay, I had some delays which meant I can’t take it until tomorrow. I’ll update after I’ve been :-)

and yes, no usb, hopefully Apple have something clever they can do.

I did come across a few Reddit posts that suggest a software update might have bricked it.

Turns out it was completely dead, they took it away for recycling. Offered me a replacement for 115£ with a 3 monthly warranty. In the end I stopped by CEX and got one for £78/2 yr warranty.

Good luck :) The CEX warranty is about as useful as a piece of second hand toilet paper!

I didn't know Apple Stores sold items with just three months warranty. Out of interest, was this a real Apple store or a third party?

I might have been tempted by this instead.

I would have ordered if it wasn't out of stock.

It was the Apple store on Regent Street. Possible I misunderstood but I thought he said 3 months on the refurbished one. Looking at your link though it does sound like it would be 12 months.

I thought about gen2 but it’s twice as much and I don’t really see any benefit. I already have the latest remote as I bought them separately.

Good to know about cex warranty, I’ve never had to use it before so have no experience.

That's frustrating, it was in stock when I looked. Worth keeping an eye on.

Fair point. I bought the gen2 when it came out because I've got a lot of very high bitrate H265 media and some of it was struggling on the original one. The extra horsepower of the new one can handle it nicely.
