Apple TV Airplay using VPN

I'm wondering if anyone can be of assistance.

I've got an Apple TV (3rd Gen) and I'm trying to view some content using AirPlay that is restricted by my ISP. I can view this content on my iPhone or iPad if I use a VPN but when I then try to AirPlay this content an error message gets display "There was an error loading this content, please try again later"

Now whilst I am connected to the same VPN I can AirPlay content from unblocked streams such as YouTube so I assumed that the VPN isn't the limiting factor. I know that content from this source can be AirPlayed because I have used it on a different connection with no issues.

If you are using the vpn in network preferences. Go advance and select send all traffic over vpn and see if it works

I've tried both settings mate. Sending all network traffic makes the content load but no AirPlay. Sending all network traffic - off makes the content not load at all.
