Apple TV avi files

Is there anyway to stream avi files from my pc to apple tv? itunes only lets me at ceartain filetypes which is really annoying i don't want to be converting them as that takes AGES.

XMedia recode can convert files in minutes if they dont need reencoding.
Airparrot does work quite well, I use it now and again to mirror things.

Plex media server + plex connect also works to stream anything to Apple TV but takes a little bit of configuration.

Just downloaded the trial got the desktop and everything to display but when i play videos its just black.

Did you install the drivers? It may be a feature turned off on the demo?

I know my parents stream video to their ATV, in all types of codec, but they needed to download a driver for video and another to stream the audio correctly.
