Hi guys, recentley got an Imac as a present off the Mrs so got rid of my trusty Macbook pro. Since having the Imac we decided to get Apple tv. So got Apple tv3, We tried streaming one of our movies via desktop mirroring, the video on the tv was very stuttery. Read somewhere that playing them through Itunes can help. So i did this, loaded them through Itunes played one or two this way and all seemed fine. Now tried watching one last night and got about 10 minutes into it and the tv starts to show the buffer wheel thing. So stopped the movie dissconnected Apple tv and tried again. After a lot of messing the Imac eventually connected to the Apple tv and started playing again. Again after 10 minutes the same thing happend. Using my Iphone i opened my BT sports app and this streamed to my Apple tv straight away with no issues what so ever. So in the end, i had to connect my Iphone to Imac sync the movie and play though my Iphone. Now once connected this played the hour and a half with no issues what so ever, but did have some issues connecting to the Apple tv. Has anyone got any advice or help as im not sure if its an issue with:
Apple TV
Imac
Wifi/Internet connection. (Sky hub 2)

Any help would be great, Thanks.

Yup, iTunes Home Sharing is the best way to go. Works flawlessly when it actually connects.

Bonjour sleep proxy

If your ATV won't connect, check if your iMac has been renamed from iMac to iMac(1). You can fix it by going into preferences>sharing and manually changing the name and streaming should work again..... Until it changes to iMac(2). Rinse and repeat.

This had me pulling my hair out for ages until I bit the bullet and replaced my Asus router with an Apple Airport. No more problems.
