Apple TV weirdness

I have an apple tv app on my LG tv. When I play a TV show no sound comes out.
When I use the sky apple tv app it I get sound.
I am using optical out to an amp with an optical input.
There don't seem to be any setting in the LG apple app I can change.

Any ideas.

Must be a pass through setting on the tv. Can you force it to stereo and see if that works? Could be atv is trying to output atmos or something that doesn’t work over optical. I had similar before on a Phillips tv and a Roku stick
