Just got myself a pair of Apple TV's, wanting to stick XBMC on them so I can stream stuff off of my WHS box.

Jailbreak, or is there another way to get XBMC on there, or even another app/player that'll work with the remote properly and pick up stuff from an NTFS share...

If needs be, other alternatives?

Brand new yesterday, black things, does that help? lol

I have a shuttle under the TV at the mo which runs Win7 with xbmc on it, the idea is to replace that and then sell the shuttle on, we have ipads and iphones in the house as well so the ATV's make sense...

I had heard of Plex previously but not actually looked into it as XBMC does everything I need and is free where some of the Plex apps for Win8/iOS aren't so XBMC won out, how do both deal with different media types, avi/mp4/mkv etc?
Servers only one of the N40L things so theres not much grunt for transcodnig etc.

Starting to mess with Plex, got it so I can use the app on my ipad and fire stuff at the ATV, just need to tweak the whole python/dns/trailers.apple.com thing to get it straight off of the ATV..

Dont think the cert thing worked, followed the guide but no joy, sits there trying to add the profile then fails...

Join us on the PlexConnect forums and we will get you up and running ;)

Sorted, lets just say it was user error, the certs worked fine but I didnt notice that when the DNS settings are set to manual it said 196.168.104.100, I just say the 104.100 so changed it to 100.005 as per my network and didnt spot the 196 at the start :D

Damn it, and now I have to replace my server as it won't transcode some of my files...
