Apple tv2 jailbreak, why? Go!

So you can install XBMC and then stream many more media types from your computer without messing around with iTunes.

Or from a NAS which is what I wanted it to do.

Can then install plugins to get ITV player, 4OD, BBC iPlayer, TV catchup etc straight into XBMC.

Really is a great bit of kit for the money as long as you have the requirement for it. Replaced my ancient Zyxel DMA-1000 media streamer

Also interested in purchasing one but currently stream most of my stuff from my media pc to my Xbox which works really well. Only reason for the apple tv would be to stream footy matches from my iPad to the bigger screen
Is there any other way to achieve this ?

Hmm we were trying to stream the Liverpool game from my mate's iPad2 this evening and the Sky Go app said it doesn't support hdmi output (I.e. it refused to mirror). only way we got it to work was to login to the Sky website on his mac and then output it via hdmi from there. He doesn't have Sky so we used my login and registered his Mac to my account.

XBMC ok so I can play all my content without converting all the stuff? I have a lot of mkv files?

Are there any other things you can install for it, apps etc or other improvements? I am all for XBMC being all you need just wondering what else you can do thats cool to justify buying one now.

Without jailbreak i wouldn't have one! they have apps runing now too!!

Also 4.4.4 is now untethered :)

Yeah I've got sky sports and Espn but it's more for the games that aren't covered by UK channels ;)
