Hey guys,

got up this morning, greeted to my 13 pro max, with slight crackling and low volume (even on max), and after a couple of hours on the phone to tech support, I now have a appointment tomorrow morning at my local Apple store.

im hoping it’s just dust or debris but the earpiece vent "looks" clear, how easy is it to replace a speaker etc..

surely it won’t warrant a handset replacement?

cheers.

It depends, if they have the module in stock and a technician there to replace it they might just replace the speaker there for you and you get it back on the same day (it takes about an hour). Otherwise if they have warranty replacement units available they might replace the unit.

Hmm, thanks HACO. I have an updated backup on the phone anyway if worst comes to worst. Hey, a new 14 pro max wouldn’t be end of the world LOL!

Just back from the gym, tried calling a few numbers..but…end up needed to go on loudspeaker, still busted. :(

was hoping it might have sorted itself, but no, deffo need to go in tomorrow.

well, yesterday before my 10.35 Apple appointment, my phone started to play ball again!

But I went for my appointment as scheduled and told them the situation, she then took the phone in the back to run extensive sound diagnostics etc. and all came back fine.

she said keep an eye on it and if the problem rears its ugly head again, to get in touch with support.

so, im trying to work out what the issue could be..and am leaning towards maybe a service (EE) issue affecting it on outgoing / incoming calls? no idea really?

but on a positive note, I still have my phone and can avoid all the hassle with my AW etc if I was given a new unit.

Crackling, up and down volume - any robotic or “underwater” sounds on calls?
Sounds like 4g calling to me.
Can’t be disabled on newer phones and it’s a bloody pain.

yeah, I put it down to some network issue. Really strange, but apple were awesome as they always are about it!
