Hi
My iPad 1s home button sometimes doesn't work which means I can't get out of an App, but sometimes it does work, its most likely hardware related as I have reformatted and restored the iPad several times, I have an appointment with the 'geniuses' on friday but currently it works so I have no way of showing them the problem, what is the likely thing that will happen to my iPad? would they replace it or send it for repairs?

Thanks

I had the same problem on a 6 month old Iphone. They swapped it for a new one on the spot after a few checks to make sure there was no water damage or drops

I had the same issue. It did not work for three days I even tried it as I walked into the aples store. As soon as the apple rep pressed it hey presto would you believe it worked.

He's still swapped it out. I had about three month left on my apple care.

I only have until the 1st of march for my apple care :/ if anything I will just pay for the extra year, but I will wait and see what Apple say.

Thanks for the reply guys, Lets hope its the same for me :)

Should I take the box an accessories with me or just taking the iPad alone good enough?

Thanks

Do a backup before you go in. You will just need the iPad as they will only swap the pad itself. You should be ok. I explained that it was intermittent and they swapped it without any issues.

Isn't there gestures now so you can four/five? Pinch in which gets out of apps. Or is that just a setting when jailbreaking?

Though I thought there was ways of getting it without jailbreaking.

There is as a new feature in iOS 5, however I don't like using it, plus I just want to get it fixed before the warranty runs out in 10 days! =o

Apple replaced my girlfriend's iPhone 4 3 months out of warranty after she took it to the Genius bar and showed them her dodgy home button.

Apple are pretty good with known issues like this one - they don't quibble. I had a similar situation with my original MacBook (anyone remember the overheating problems, and discolouration?)

They do quibble sometimes about it. A colleague at work had the same problem when her iPhone 4 was a couple of months out of warranty. She took it to the Apple store at Lakeside and they refused to do anything. She's a pretty girl and dressed appropriately as well for maximum effect but it didn't help.

Tell her to go back, the warranty running out means nothing

Thought I would update the thread, went to the apple store today, told the 'genius' the problem and he replaced it with a brand spanking new iPad very quickly :)

Yay.
