Apple watch catches fire

WCCFTech article here. Lots of smoke! The video embedded in the article contains swearies but does not autoplay.

I'm guessing that inside the watch is a lithium battery which is misbehaving.
 
Sounds like both the battery and battery protection failed, allowing a rapid discharge which vented the battery.

Seen swollen batteries on very old iPhones before, but all the burnt out ones I heard about in the U.K. were down to 3rd party battery replacements executed poorly and/or using shonky copy batteries.
 
Makes me wonder how many times Apple have asked people to sign an NDA and if this is actually a more widespread issue.
I'm pretty sure if Apple Watches were regularly catching fire, it would be in the national press like it was with Samsung phones, not WCCFTech which is, well, not exactly renowned for being a source of truth.
