I have a PC running windows but love the Apple design. Was thinking of getting an Apple wireless keyboard (along with the apple wireless keyboard helper app) and a magic mouse. They look and feel amazing compared to the plastic crap that is available for PCs.

Anyhow, I've been looking at the pics off the forum of peoples Apple hardware and have noticed a large proportion have the trackpad instead of the magic mouse. Is it any good? I suppose it must be, but how do you think I'd get on with it having always used a mouse and really hating my wife's laptop as it has a trackpad type affair. I just can't get used to that.

Thoughts appreciated

Simply put, avoid. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives for the keyboard (Logitech K350 IIRC), the Magic Mouse is terrible in the eyes of many (including myself), the Trackpad doesn't work properly under Windows, and Trackpad++ doesn't support the wireless trackpad (only the built-in ones on Apple notebooks). There are trackpad alternatives that will work better under Windows anyway.

Wired keyboard is great in windows (once you muck about getting the apple keyboard map sorted which doesn't take long). Wireless I can imagine being a pig to set up as bluetooth in windows is wonderfully hit and miss.

The magic mouse and magic trackpads however are boarder line serious no go things to try on windows. Limited functionality and pain to set up in the same way they work in osx sadly :(

All these problems are from going into windows via bootcamp on my mac mini as well. It's just not the same or worth it really.

Main benefit of the trackpad in OSX is gestures. I personally wouldn't go back to a regular mouse now.

Unfortunately in Windows you're not going to be able to use gestures, so you'll prob find it frustrating to use.

The keyboard is great though :)

Like everyone else has said...
The keyboard works fine in windows, but the trackpad is horrible, no gestures support and does not accept clicks properly.
I don't have any experience with the Magic Mouse though.
