I've ordered a White Macbook 2Ghz with 100GB Hard Drive and 1GB Ram.

Is the AppleCare Protection Plan at £199 for a further 2 years cover worth it? Is there a cheaper way to insure the Macbook as £199 seems a bit steep for a further 2 years cover

Depends. What does it cover? Accidental damage also? What does your house insurance cover? How much is the excess on that? etc.

Oh dear :( How long ago did you order the Macbook? I'd cancel it asap! When you first order the Macbook you'll get a discount on the Applecare but only when you order. I didn't realise this and have cancelled and waiting on refund going into my bank so I can re-order.

I assume this is the case with normal orders aswell as HE discount? I know its £58 for the Full Applecare upgrade for HE but normal?

Hope this helps anyway,

Just double checked and AppleCare would cost me £199 :(

Looks like there's no discount for none HE....

You may also want to look at getting a specialised insurance of some sort. I'm paying £89 a year as an addition to my student house insurance, and this gives me full accidental damage cover, HW faults & full loss/ theft cover.
