I bought my Macbook Pro in September 2006 with HE discount and therfore got applecare for free.
Recently the battery has been dying (understandable after 2.5 years!), so I rang Applecare on the offchance and they said they would replace it for free!
Great service from Apple, most companies would have said STFU after 6 months even with an extended warrenty!
