I was just wondering, I just had my first iMac replaced due to a fault. This was just after the 14 day return period (think it was 26 days old ).

They gave me a brand new iMac and new receipt . I was wondering if my 14 day period starts again with the new machine ??? or would they consider that period gone as it was replacement???

Unless they've done something out of the ordinary in your case, they will normally do a CRU replacement, which does not reset the 14 day return period.

Ahh ok. I take it CRU stands for, customer replacement unit? and not refurbished Unit.
We had to go through the complete buying process again. They asked for student ID again; only difference was nothing to pay.

Phone up and find out? Sounds like it should reset...

Been through it before and have asked, it doesn't reset. However, it is always worth asking just in case.

Yep, CRU is a customer replacement unit, which will be brand new, retail boxed. The other replacement units are service units, which may or may not be new, largely dependent on the age of the model - if a product was just released, replacements will be brand new (guess that's a bit obvious!).

Phoned the Apple store yesterday. Told them I had my iMac replaced after 27 days with a brand new replacment. Asked if the 14 days was reset with new iMac, and the lady said yes as long it was replaced from shop floor and not ordered in as replacment.

So off I went to Apple store and within 5 minutes I was out of the store with full refund no questions asked.;)

Cant fault Apple customer service :)
