To many SKUs is bad for any company. Consumer confusion isn't a good thing.

Apple have really gone downhill IMO after Jobs passed away. Devices with basic hardware flaws, buggy software and now an update that has been pulled for the first time in the history of iOS. The premium they charge for their hardware is just not worth it anymore.
