I was thinking today, i had to create something for a website I instantly jumped to notepad on my windows box. i feel notepad is superior to textmate.

however
What's your opinion on the most well made Apple application?

please give reasons :D

iTunes is the most useful thing apples ever made. One of my 'not a very good thing from apple' item is the iPad. Playing on one the other day, and its just an over sized, over priced iPod touch! But still, iTunes rules the Media player roost for me :)

Pretty clear winner is iTunes, for me. That may come as a surprise to any Windows-side browsers to this forum but I've always found it very useful.

I remember the first time I used an iPod and was playing about with syncing options and was just blown away by the ease of use. I had come from a 20gb brick MP3 Player with MusicMatch Jukebox and it was just a clunky, horrible experience.

iTunes isn't for everybody but let's face it, no software application is.

I too love itunes on OSX. On Windows though I find it horrible for some reason, I can't explain it but on OSX it is so much nicer.

Toss up between iTunes and aperture 3 for me, Ryan why comment on the iPad when smogsy was asking about apps/software

iTunes is great - but I would say that "Expose" or whatever you call it (F3 Button) is a majorly fantastic app, and I find it so incredibly useful.

If Expose counts as an app then that's a clear winner for me.

If not, iTunes maybe. To be fair a lot of the pre-installed Apple apps are made to a good standard.

iTunes is far from the most "Well made" application...

It may be a good music player but it is far from "well made"...it's still running on carbon 32 bit!

I'm not sure i could say any of their applications is particularly well made as they all have their pitfalls.

Itunes on Windows is horrid, it runs in the background when you don't want it and if you disable it Itunes just breaks. Why can't it just run when it detects your iphone

The iLife stuff for me is pretty brilliant. iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD and all that are perfect for someone like me that doesn't do much media stuff, but when i do it does it very well and isn't hard to use at all.

I really like Pages on iPad. I had a go at an iPad a few weeks ago and made a document with a bold underlined title, a paragraph of text and added a picture with a nice polaroid effect (looked like it was pasted on top of the doucument).

Done it quicker than on MS Office with a mouse and keyboard. :)

Man, there seem to be so many don't use, iLife, GarageBand (I have a digital piano as well), I really should my Mac more.

Itunes (on OSX) and Aperture both figure (though Aperture's performance is still a problem) but I retain a soft spot for mail, it works really nicely for me, particularly with mobileme - lightweight and just gets out of the way. Safari deserves a mention too (on OSX again), lightweight, unobtrusive and does everything I want it to...

The trouble with iTunes on Windows is the junk that comes with it. Fortunately it's fairly easy to kill and disable - not sure why it is causing you issues as it works fine for me. The trouble is it's fairly sloppy as well so definitely not a win on Windows.

ive never really understood why people hate itunes on windows so much

whats the other stuff that people hate so much ?

It's bloated and works backwards to a Windows user. I never liked it when I used Windows, it didn't make sense. It makes perfect sense in the context of being on a Mac because it works the same way as all Mac apps, but it feels out of place on Windows imo.
