apples newer two factor authentication

Hi

Has anyone in the UK managed to turn on two factor authentication?

I was hoping to when I updated to el capitan but I still can't, I keep getting the message "two factor is not yet available for your ID"

I have contacted apple and they seem to think I should be able to get it now but the message obviously states otherwise.

Does anyone else get this when they attempt to turn it on under iCloud security settings?

I have all the latest OSX and iOS, I was told i need to setup a verified phone number in my apple account but I can't see anywhere to do this, I was also told I need an iPhone.

This was from apple support!!

Im sure thats not the case but the verified mobile number could be true but I can't see anywhere to add this.

When you setup your iPhone you use your apple id. I assume behind the scenes it ties the apple id and phone details (IMSI, IMEI, and MSISDN) to it..

That's the thing I don't own an iphone. Im not sure if I need one to be able to setup this two factor?

I would not of thought so.

Based on the official support page you shouldn't require an iPhone, but you probably do need an iPad or iPod, do you have either of those?

I'm not sure they have finished rolling it out to everyone yet either.

All you have to do is start the enable process online with the link i provided and it will ask you to add a phone number.

Hi

That link only has the process to enable 2 step verification.

I want to use 2 Factor authentication.

It seems its just not available yet for me.
