Hello all :)

Ok hardware setup in sig, and im running windows 7 x64.

Windows is starting up in around 60 seconds including bios screen.

But when i open programs for the first time for example outlook 2010, internet explorer, opera they take around 15/20 seconds to open which seems a fair while compared to other systems ive built and seen.
I have family members whos pc specs are no where near mine and yet there program response time right after windows load is instant no delays.

I have no stability issues and games seem to run fine, its just the general feel on the desktop can be sluggish compared with lesser systems.

any ideas ?

oh and im using a netgear wireless router dgnd3300 v2 and wireless adapter wnda3100 v2

many thanks for reply.

just done a complete re install 2 days ago.

os reporting 4 gig ram correctly.

nothing accessing drive when programs start no activity.

no antivirus installed at present to isolate possible issue.

not been defragged as new install.

been looking at ssd which i will do soon but other systems which are quicker on program startup are using standard hard drives so was just trying to isolate current part or software causing issue. once again thanks for all input.

ok hd tach burst speed is 236.6mb, randon access 13.4ms, average read 122.3mb, which dont seem to bad for that drive.

in event viewer under diagnostics - performance i have lots of warnings and some errors and a few critical boot up messages event id 100 Boot Duration : 98355ms

does this help diagnose a potential problem
