Hi,

Just wondering if there is a way to view which applications are opening when you reach the desktop of mac os x?

Thanks

Jb

I think you go into User Accounts in System Preferences. There is a box along the top that says "Login items" or something.

Does the /Library/startupitems directory also contain details of things to start when logging in? I'm a bit of an OSX newbie myself so if anyone could say if that's right or wrong that would be great.

Thanks,
Jim

If I'm correct, that's more likely to contain critical system process which begin on startup. Probably best leaving that alone unless you know what you're doing!

Thanks. I'll have a careful look into it as it would be useful to get things like MySQL running when my Mac boots up.

Lots to learn in OSX!

FYI: You can add disc images/network places to the startup list so they auto-mount/connect when OS X is loaded :)

Be warned though, if you add a hot-swapable disc (e.g. Firewire HDD) then OS X is going to spend time looking for it. There is a way around this but for the life of me I have forgotten it (don't use it myself).

Just thought it was worth mentioning..

Ah, cheers. Was going to make a topic on auto mounting network shares. It's a bit of a pain having to mount certain shares around the house that I use a lot!
