So i hear there are many ways to overclock a processor, some use applications while some use the BIOS has anyone with Asus board used the "Turbo-V" application to overlock? is it safe using that? i had a look and was thinking about Overclocking each core from 3.2 to 3.5Ghz and was wondering is this safe? what else would i need to change the application has quite a few options to change voltages of things so what should i be looking at changing if i want to overclock from 3.2Ghz to 3.5Ghz, how far could i take it without blowing the computer up? i have a 955be with a m4a785td - evo, i see it has the option to go all the way up to 4.0Ghz to me thats a bit too much

if not using Turbo V - then what should i use?

Use the BIOS! Apps don't set the voltages correctly. They either set them low so you're unstable to too high so you produce more heat than you should. Given every chip is different it is much better to do it though the BIOS. It may take longer, but in the end you'll end up with a better result.

Turbo-V is pretty good (as accurate as the bios), much more stable than gigabytes easytune 6.

If you want to use the bios, its called A.I. Tweaker on the bios options of the asus board. I suggest you read about it first though

okay thanks for the info, i will read up about it for some reason AMD Overdrive wont work but TurboV does so i will use either that or the BIOS where can i find the best information about Overclocking these ways?

The sticky in this forum is good. beginners guide to overclocking. I have same board as you and its really simple to use. Enter the bios, go to 'Advanced' and about 3 or 4 options down you will see a setting to change the multiplier. Change it up to x17.5 (giving 3.5Ghz). You can leave the volts on auto and it will adjust it automatically, though with my chip (550BE) it does tend to set it slightly higher than necessary so you need to watch your temps and reduce voltage if your not happy with it.
