Advice required please...

A job has been advertised that I used to do for nearly 2 years before I was promoted. I was quite happy for about 8 months in my new role until I had an accident which affected a few things and caused me to stop working (was a freak accident and the employer was not responsible).
We moved away from the area shortly after I quit so fast forward 14 months and I'm unemployed (not through lack of trying) and bored stupid just sitting here waiting to work on the house we are buying.

The question is, do I apply for this job at the company I used to work for (its a different region) or ignore it? I'm not desperate for work in a financial sense and not claiming anything and am loathe to go back to doing what I did before (low pay, longer hours than similar positions) but on the other hand, I stand a good chance of getting the job due to my experience and I'm sure half of head office and the other regions would remember me as I was very good at what I did.

The job is something anyone physically fit could do as well as admin tasks.

These are both the conclusions I came to so I'm no further forward.
This all depends on me being offered the job of course which I'm several steps away from at the moment.

Also if you accept the role and it's crap you can just quit again and you're not really worse off - you've lost a month and gained a month in pay.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be better to have a job so you haven't got a long employment gap? also, your NI contributions if you aren't claiming will be affected...

It may be a job that you can do until you're ready to find another.

Or phone it in each day doing just enough to not get sacked until you find a job you actually want to do. There are lots of ways to approach this.
