Apply new TIM to BFG card

My 8800gts thermal interface material is getting kind of past its sell by date, it seems to be like this chalky material (on the vram chips anyway) that just seems to crumble every time i move my card around to clean etc.

Would i void the warranty if i replace the TIM with some better stuff?

Yes, only EVGA cover the removal of the original cooler (be it for new TIM or to replace it)

Yes evga does allow removal of the stock cooler..But it needs to be refitted for RMA..

I'm sure I remember someone on here saying that XFX, and Gigabyte also don't mind if you remove the stock cooler, as long as you fit the stock cooler back on if you have to RMA it..

By the sounds of it if you dont redo your paste the cards going to fail anyhow so i would do it and BFG dont mind as long as you dont destroy the card doing it.
