Apply on company website or phone the department head?

I've seen a job on a company website that I would like to apply to. It doesn't have any "message" box, just an attach CV button plus your contact details. No phone number. I would like to have a chat about the role to begin with to put a voice to the name when they come to look at a CV and also make sure it's a role I would like to apply for too.

Would you phone the office/department head person in question on the general phone number, or would this perhaps not be appreciated (perhaps someone is leaving, creating the role and it isn't 'public knowledge' yet etc).

Also would you do that on a friday afternoon at 4.45 lol

I wouldn't do it in haste (calling at 445 on a Friday would be considered haste). Why don't you drop an email with your CV (give) and ask if they can have a quick call with you (take).
