Applying personal settings taking 5 minutes

On first login on a morning on all pc's on the network we are getting the applying personal settings dialogue displaying on screen for sometimes more than 5 minutes before it continues loading.

I have been searching on google for possible reasons and the most obvious seems to be a dns problem but I have triple checked the settings on all pcs and they are all pointing to the correct internal dns server and secondary server.

Its a weird one as It seems to login allot faster taking only 10-15 seconds after I have logged in once.

I have enabled logging but now cannot get it to hang! :confused:so I will come back with the log file it generates in the morning to see if that outlines any reason for it taking so long.

This problem has only arisen in the past few weeks but I cannot think of any changes that could have caused it.

Does anyone else have any ideas on what I could try next?

Cheers

Does the user/s have a large amount of files in their documents and settings folder?

When logging on at a different machine, it'll copy the user's personal files across the network, which can take an absolute age - last time I used the spare laptop, I had to sit and wait for bliimin' ages, and finally realised that the spare laptop now had 12 gigs o' music that I'd ripped to my lappy :p

Only if they using roaming profiles. If they don't the user will have a seperate profile on each PC and it should logon quickly.
