I hadn't realised the U2311H was so cheap which has caused a dilema. I was looking at a Hanns G 27.5" for that kind of money but now wondering if a small IPS would make more sense?

General use only, bit of everything but I'm terrible with choices! The U2410 would be the perfect option but I can't justify ~£900 on two monitors...

Well i,d go for the U2311H as it is veery good value for money , plus a better screen than the bigger 27 inch Hanns unless your a avid gamer ...

I'm very happy with the 27.5" Hanns G having upgraded from a 22" Samsung 226BW.
I use it for gaming and web browsing. The 3ms response time is great for games. The colours are good for a TN panel but not as good as an IPS panel obviously. The viewing angles aren't good either but that's not really a problem because I always sit in front of it.

The Dell's 8ms response time would have put me off BUT the reviews would suggest that it is not a problem in games. Everyone seems to be very happy with it.

Having a larger screen and a higher resolution (1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080) were more important to me than colour accuracy. A bigger screen makes games more immersive and the higher resolution means I get more screen to browse/play with.

You need to decide which features are more important to you but there is no doubt that the U2311H is an excellent all-rounder.

Some good points there. One thing putting me off the Dell is the vertical size is only a few millimeters more than my 19" Hyundai. Hmmm

Are these hanns G screens any good then? Ive seen a 25inch for £150! but never heard of the make before, can anyone report on the old Backlight bleed sistuation on this make?
cheers :)
sorry for slight hijack!

I can see me going for the Hanns G, not going to be much deak space left with two of the though! Could be pretty nice for MMO's.

You're not kidding!
Not long after getting my Hanns G. I was compelled to install Age of Conan again. It looks fantastic. Lord of the Rings Online looks damn good too. Having said that, I'm addicted to Borderlands at the moment :p

Is it really a big difference from 1080?
It's not a "BIG" difference but it's nice to have a bit of extra screen when browsing or programming.
The 1200 resolution doesn't really offer much of an improvement over 1080 when it comes to games. In fact the graphics card has to work a bit harder as you know.

I upgraded from a Samsung 226BW to the Hanns G so I went from 1050 (not 1080) to 1200.

For me it's not just about the resolution, it's also the size of the screen. I wanted a more immersive gaming experience so that's why I went for a 27.5" panel instead of a 24" with the same resolution. Having used the Hanns G for several months, I have to say that it has enhanced my game playing.
I would have to compare it with my experience of watching movies on my old 30" Sony crt tv and then watching the same movies on my new 40" Samsung LED tv. I wanted to watch my favourite films all over again. It's the same with my games on the Hanns G.
