Apps not updating

Google Play won't update my apps when the screen is off. I can hit 'update all', leave the phone and when I pick it up again perhaps one or two will have updated and after that it seems to get stuck.

Is it the result of some aggressive 'app optimisation' on my Note 4 or something else? The optimisation pop-up comes up at least five times a day for me, even though it's enabled. Any ideas would be gratefully received as I'd like to stay stock but the Samsung crap is starting to get to me after several months of the same pop-up.

Yeah I have 'keep wifi on when screen is off' enabled so it's not that. I used to have it set to go off on my old phone so checked that to make sure Google hadn't backed it up and reapplied it to the new device. Cheers anyway though. :)

Mine only updates with the screen off while charging / plugged in.

Always assumed it was a safety measure to prevent draining the battery if there are a lot of updates.

That's a good point. I've not noticed whether they'll all update if it's plugged in, I'll have to try that. Thanks. :)
