Apps on your tv

I don’t know about other TVs, but I believe all LG TVs use a 100Mb Ethernet.
If a Roku has a Gb connection and the streaming service support higher bit rates, that’s a potential opportunity.

Just about to go research that.
I think 4k streams are 25Mb, full bluray is more than that, but can't imagine any streaming service offering that.

As an update to apps on TV, I bought my daughter a 32 inch with fire TV software (think it's Panasonic) and it's rubbish (was only a cheap 32 inch). Quite often the sound doesn't work which requires a reboot, and this morning she wanted to finish off celebrity traitor but iPlayer wouldn't work as prime wasn't signed in even though I'd not adjusted any settings. Worst tech purchase I've ever made, not sure why a stand alone fire stick does a better job than a TV that has the same/very similar software.

I’m almost ready to give up with our Samsung Tv. It’s quite new but has already gone horribly laggy and issues with a lot of the apps.

I think that's about standard for most TVs. They cut costs massively on the chipsets used to run the OS and apps making it an awful experience to use. External devices like Apple TV or a Fire Stick are the annoyingly necessary solution most of the time.

Would be good if you can uninstall/disable apps, debloat etc. I've read new LG OS is a bit laggy

I found that my Firestick kept freezing, got another one and same thing so I gave up and switched to the TV apps. I can't remember if the quality is lesser when directly on the TV though? It did mean one less device to have to switch to, not so much for me but more for the family.

I don't have a firestick, but codec support on the dedicated amlogic kodi box is better than the TV's own. The built in TV media player is pretty good though, just the UI isn't as good.

I just got a Tizen One UI update for my S93C OLED. I guess it was released late in Spain, as I can see from google other people got this update earlier this year.

Every button now has a 1 second delay before anything happens on screen, including loading apps :( It also added back a load of apps I had already deleted (deleted them again now!)
