APU for office build?

Hi guys

I am going to be making an office computer for someone. Would an apu like this be okay or should I go for a i5?

Either way, it's overkill for office tasks.

Get a pentium or an A-6 apu; it's more than enough for normal office use.

The 7850 is probably overkill? You could use one of their lower end APU's?

The simple answer is yes it would be ok but it seems a bizzare choice. Your spending much more than is necessarey but all that extra cash is going into the graphics side of the chip which will barely be used for office tasks.

You really have 2 much better choices imo.

The i3 is a fair bit more powerful on the CPU side of things and you save the best part of £50. Or go for the i5 spending the same but getting probably double the CPU performance of that AMD chip. Both of these intel options have a built in GPU that is more than capable of performing office tasks.

Ok i would go with the i5, I can always add a GPU later if needs be

We are just talking word, excel etc?

An i5 really is a long way over-spec for the task, if so.

Usually a G3420 would be fine for general office tasks.

Edit: Look at a i5 4460.
