Hey guys im after some advice please.

While looking around at a lot of fan controllers, I finally after a lot of recommendations on these forums bought a :

Aqua Computer Aquaero 5 XT LCD Fan-Controller

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-000-AB&groupid=701&catid=2331&subcat=189.

So with this in mind I would like to ask some questions to things I will be possibly doing with it(if I can) and since a fair amount of you guys use it this Is the best place to ask.

Can I connect my d5 vario pump to this controller without buying anything extra ? and retian full functionality, or do I need to buy something else ?

I am using Noiseblocker NB-eLoop Fan B12-3 - 120mm (1900rpm) to put on my 2 rads, so 8 of these fans in total. is it possible to connect 4 of these fans to each chan ? and would I need some sort of fan splitter cable ?

So in other words, on chan 1: 460 rad group
and on chan 2 :360 rad group.
then use the other 2 channels for the rest of the case fans inside my 900d ?

I have on its way a temp sensor(monsoon one) can this be connected directly to the device ?.
Is there anywhere where I can read on the software setup ? perhaps guides ect ?.

I know its a lot of questions only I am new to this.

Thank you in advance.

There are only 4 Fan headers on the XT itself. You will need Y-Splitters or another distribution method to run multiple fans from each channel.

There is plenty of stuff on Google about the Aquasuite software. It is fully featured and will read temp sensors assuming they are compatible. The Aquaero uses 2 pin sensor headers. Check out some YouTube videos about the software. To be honest, as long as you have half a brain and the penchant to fiddle with it then once you have spent 45 minutes working it out the rest is easy.

I did some writing up about the configuration I use on my 5 LT here:

As for pump control. Personally I see little benefit in running variable speed pumps. Set it at a flow/noise point that you find acceptable and leave it. I run my D5 on setting 3 with 2 GPUS, CPU, 2 x 480s and the Aquaero waterblock. It's largely inaudible over the fans on their lowest settings. While you can use a power adjust with the XT and a D5 Vario your range of adjustment is going to be small, and dialling down the speed (and increasing the PA resistance) will generate heat.

I managed to to swap the Aqua Computer Aquaero 5 XT LCD Fan-Controller for the newer

Aqua Computer Aquaero 6 Pro USB Fan Controller.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BB-001-AQ

At the same time I bought the

Aqua Computer Passive Cooler for Aquaero 6
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-172-AQ

Reasoning behind the change was the fact the fan headers on the newer v6 are 30 watt so therefor I can put more fans on each fan header(I think) all I know its a lot more than the old one, and I believe with the passive cooler I should be bale to run at least 4 fans per chan ?

And again thank you for the replies

Yes thats correct bud - the newer AE6 controller allows more fans per channel as it can handle a larger amount of wattage.

Use the Monsoon (water temp I take it) temp sensor to monitor your systems water temperature and adjust your fans accordingly.

I have all my fans in my system connected to my AE5 for FULL control.

1 x Air temp sensor - using set point controller option to adjust front case fans
The same temp sensor input is also used to independently control the rear fan
1 x water temp sensor - using a third set point controller option to adjust the two rad fans I have appropriately.

It's a lot easier than it sounds once you use the aquasuite software. Just make sure to label your inputs (i.e. temp sensors, fans etc) to something more meaningful (i.e. Fan1 = Rad Fans, Temp1 = System Temp etc) and it much easier to figure out whats going on.

Enjoy mate, once you've used an AE unit you'll never go back to having a system without one! :)

I use it with a flow sensor to monitor how fast the water is pumping round the system too and yet still it's well under-used lol

thank you for the tips. I want a flow sensor but just could not afford it lol. I have spent an absolute fortune on this wc far. and waiting for a ton of it to come to me, waiting on some stock ect to come in. I did manage to afford a monsoon stop temp sensor though, I will get more. I was planning on putting the monsoon temp sensor at the rear of the pump, in the spare spot.
if I get some more money before it all arrives o I can start my build I might invest in a flow sensor and some inline sensors. do you have to use the aqua ones or are the bits power/monsoon ones ok to use ?
Thanks for the reply

I know what you mean bud, its not cheap! - but well worth it - once you go fully water you never go back. My ears can't stand the sound of them piddly fans anymore lol.

Any in-line temp sensor will work fine - i've used loads of non-ac accessories with my AE5.

If you want a cheap flow meter do what I did - buy a Koolance FM flow meter and simply chop the wires on the end to connect it to your AE5. It does the job exactly the same as the AC one ;)

good choice on the aquero 6 pro although exspensive it is the best controller out there I have been using it for a week now well happy with it. still haven't figured out most of what it can do.
I have used a few fan controllers recently and this is the only one I would recommend or spend my own money on again

Yes I have had a few in the past where the display has gone, or a channel has stopped working, or the power connecter was really badly soldered.

So I had made a few posts about what other people had chosen, at the time of th eposts I could not afford one, but the opatunity arose where I could afford one, so I chose to get one. hopefully it will last a few years.

I have been reading a ton of posts on other forums ect. where they give advice ect on the use of them ect, im very surpised we do have a aquero club like a lot of other forums/shops have.

The only downside to ocuk is I suspect they only order/have in there shop is what they use on there higher end shop computer builds.
