Ok well my girlfriend just turned around to me and asked how when you squeeze a tube of aquafresh it always comes out in stripes.... now we've looked on Google and even cut open a tube itself.... it seems for the most part that it is just put in in stripes...

Saying that if that is the case how does it manage to come out a smaller diameter hole than the tube's diameter and maintain this stripe pattern... I feel there must be an underlying engineering explanation!

What's more, surely if you squeeze one side more than the other it should mess up the pattern... but that doesn't seem to either...

I know I should probably be doing better things with my life, but now I have this puzzle stuck in my head I have to work it out....

Thought it might create some interesting discussion as well :)

Powered by little magical elves that live inside the tube, be careful not to squeeze them too hard.

my suggestion would be fap more and think less,

Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed

cant read that without it being in AP's voice lol.

if one spent their life trying to work this out, it would not be a life wasted. think of the girls you would pull by using it as an opener? ''hey, do you want to know how aquafresh toothpaste comes out of the tube stripey?'' you'd have your hands down their pants within 22 minutes.

Yeah, I'd seen the YouTube link... didn't really show how they managed to maintain it (the physical dynamics of it...)

BBC link seems to explain it better, although from what we found there was no solid object to separate at the nozzle, although it seems this is done by the viscousity of the paste itself?
