Aquiring unused domain names

HI everyone,

I'm wondering about this, is there a way to aquire unused domain names before their renewal has run out and there's no contact for the owner? There's one I'm after but can't get hold of the owner, the domain just points to a few empty folders.

You could back order it, then as soon as the domain comes available the people you back ordered it with will try grab it.

Assuming the likes of Nominet don't catch on.

In short, unless you contact the current owner and ask them to transfer it, or have a legal cause to demand the transfer, then the answer is no.
