Hi folks,
i've recently bought a new TV and AV Receiver. I have all of my input devices connected to the receiver, and the receiver connected to the TV via the ARC enabled HDMI port on both devices. I use a Harmony remote to switch between activities, which also of course switches the source depending on what the activity is. The only activity I want to actually use ARC for is any apps on the TV (most importantly Netflix)
The problem arises when I start any activity with the devices turned off, as soon as the TV turns on the amp switches to TV input and overrides the source selected in the activity. So for example if I run 'Watch TV' which turns on TV, Amp, Cable Box, switches to HDMI2 and input CAB/SAT, as soon as the TV powers on it sets the input on the amp to TV. I then have to manually select the correct input on the receiver remote.
What I want is for ARC to only be used when I'm running an app on the TV. At all other times I want to just use the audio from the selected input.
I'm sure I could get around this by just using an optical connection from the TV to receiver and turning ARC off (which I what I had on my previous TV), but I'd rather get this working without another cable if possible.
Has anyone else hit this problem and been able to work out a solution? Kit being used
Tv = LG 65C8
Amp = Denon AVR-X2500H
Remote = Logitech Harmony Elite
