Anyone else got access to the Alpha play test?

I was really quite excited by this game as it's made by ex-battlefield devs, but hugely disappointed. They changed it into being a PvPvE, F2P extraction shooter. Graphics are good with a nice art style but I expected much more for an Unreal 5 Engine game - the graphics are about equivalent quality to the 2019 Metro Exodus. Perfomance is choppy and often you spawn in with a pick axe and are dead within less than 5 seconds. It's getting a lot of negative comments on Steam.

I don't think it's a game I would be interested in playing even if it is free

Yeah I was very interested in this under its initial premise but the move to an extraction shooter has killed off my interest in the title.

I wishlisted it when it was announced but removed it with the change to PvPvE.
I just want a decent co-op PVE game!

Fingers crossed for PayDay3 now.

Saw some footage for Helldivers 2 there this evening, and I now hope it could scratch that itch for some co-op sci-fi shenanigans. Never played the original, but seems like it was well-liked by those that did. Fingers crossed. I can't take another disappointing co-op release! :p

Is it that bad? I play DMZ with friends and the PvP gives it some spice but we mostly concentrate on the PvE element. Arc looks amazing in the trailers...

I tried the first play test, and am in this one. But not hapy about the PVP element. Im getting to old and my relexes are not as sharp as tehy used to be, so the PVP has killed it for me. Its an easy way for devs to make a shallow game. Add PVP to hide the lack of game play.

Played a bit this afternoon, only got onto the console test rather than PC but a good chance to try it out on on the PS5 Pro. Plays and runs well, definitely feel like it's a game you'll want to be in a premade group for and in the 3 'raids' I did some of the PvP fights were fun but others were just a bit boring and slow.

Some of the larger enemy types are really enjoyable/little terrifying to fight as well. I'll try and play a bit more before the tech test is over but so far it's fun, extraction shooters are hard to get the balance right with PvE / PvP.

Not sure if it's controversial or not - but possibly because I was on console using a controller - but I'd really like hitmarkers. I definitely think if I'd been playing on m&kb on PC it would have been less noticeable.

This is really good. So much better than the first play test (which was awful). They have worked wonders with the graphics too as it looks amazing now.

I will look forward to this coming out, although it seems almost every release these days is either an extraction shooter or zombies and it's getting a little tiring.

Played a bit more last night (still on console) and up to around 7/8 hours of playtime. I'm really enjoying it, extraction shooters have sort of been a mixed bag for me (outside of Division 1 and 2) and even though I enjoyed Tarkov it was more the gunplay that I liked in that vs. the entire loot management situation.

So far in Arc Raiders, it's been a really good balance of fighting the Arc AI and trying to deal with players as well. The sound design is insanely good and can genuinely be terrifying when you have a Bastion appear and just start hunting you. Had a cool moment last night where we ended up essentially teaming up with another squad to take down a few of the bigger Arcs on the Spacestation map and all extracted together.

I'd be interested to see how it plays/feels on PC, it also regularly crashes on PS5 Pro every time I extract. I don't lose anything but it's a bit irritating to have to restart the game every 20 minutes - although it's a tech test and it does seem to automatically send the error report to Embark which is great.

A few of the raids yesterday seemed really busy too - but then I saw that they were stress testing player numbers on servers so it would make sense that we'd seem to be playing in lobbies with potentially another 20+ real players. I don't want to overdo it on a tech test (I found sometimes doing this makes me less excited for a full release) but so far I'm really enjoying it.

For anyone who is relatively new to extraction shooters, it's worth going in to each raid with a 'plan', i.e. what quest are you going to do, what loot do you want to get, where are you going to head - and then heading for extraction once you've done that. I see so many people just staying in for the entire 25 minutes and just ending up with almost too much loot and then struggling to get to any extraction. Get in, get your stuff, get out, profit!
