i doubt i'll play long enough to unlock that perk. game is already moving towards being 'boring' for me.Breach boxes are where it's at, I am now aiming for that perk as fast as possible.
Ran in a trio with someone who had the breach box perk on space port last night, avoiding fights and just running to each box, each of us was getting 80-90k worth of loot every run.
There are certain locked things which require you to have that skill to be able to open them, think of it as an advanced lockpicking skill or a hacking skillIs that the one that lets you breach them quickly/quietly or something else?
No, at the end of the survival tree there is a perk that allows you to open "security breach boxes". They are locked to anyone who doesn't have that perk and often contain good loot, blueprints etc. They are usually found in buildings, bunkers etc. Handful on each map, same location every time.Is that the one that lets you breach them quickly/quietly or something else?
aye they are just utterly pointless to anyone other than a level 1 player - but i've started to notice there's quite a lot of 'pointless' in this game, unfortunately. and that coupled with the poor pvp i don't think this is going to be a long term game for me, shame though as they've got a beautifully crafted world and brilliant game play outside of the pvp.
aye, they need to do something with the pvp if they want long term success, imo. the pvp is just poor in this, it usually just boils down to who has the most meds and ammo. skill and gear are a seemingly secondary factor - that's going to kill the game pretty sharpish imo. maybe they can add line of sight modifiers or the likes so sitting behind a wall watching other players trying to flank your position without peeking out isn't an option. but i get the feeling they won't - the pvp was an after thought/add on in the original roadmap and it shows - in it's current iteration it's like a dumbed down version of pvp, which will keep the casuals happy but they'll move on once the novelty wears off, meanwhile the typical extraction shooter fan will have already moved on due to the boring pvp.Agree, they need to jump on this otherwise it will be like helldivers where the novelty wears off and the low to mid features add nothing anymore so your left with grinding for the end game stuff. For helldivers they should have brought in the extra race faster and revamped the copious weapons much sooner instead of how they focused on other items.
They also have to be very careful not to make any kneejerk reactions to vocal minorities otherwise they'll do more harm than good. I remember a dev from Bullfrog (for those who remember that company) MANY years ago who in an interview said that sometimes gamers think they want things in a game and dont foresee that its actually just shortening the lifespan of the game and its why devs must be careful not to overlisten to the players. (A lesson which very sadly, the makers of Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies didnt follow, both of who made the changes to their games that the players wanted and simply killed both games by making those "wanted" changes)Agree, they need to jump on this otherwise it will be like helldivers where the novelty wears off and the low to mid features add nothing anymore so your left with grinding for the end game stuff. Is this the first ever third person PvP game you've played?aye, they need to do something with the pvp if they want long term success, imo. the pvp is just poor in this, it usually just boils down to who has the most meds and ammo. skill and gear are a seemingly secondary factor - that's going to kill the game pretty sharpish imo. maybe they can add line of sight modifiers or the likes so sitting behind a wall watching other players trying to flank your position without peeking out isn't an option. but i get the feeling they won't - the pvp was an after thought/add on in the original roadmap and it shows - in it's current iteration it's like a dumbed down version of pvp, which will keep the casuals happy but they'll move on once the novelty wears off, meanwhile the typical extraction shooter fan will have already moved on due to the boring pvp.
nope, played quite a few. played gears of war to death and lots of the division to name just a couple. never bothered much with the pvp in the division due to how pants it was. gears did it well but it's a different game style. i personally just don't think tpp works for pvp is this type of game at least not in a fun way and the more i play this the more i'm convinced of thatIs this the first ever third person PvP game you've played?
This...sticky grenades or the trigger nade, or better still the heavy fuze grenade as it has a very large splash damage area. I've killed more than a few corner peekers by lobbing those at the corner.grenades are your friends if you want to counter TPP peeking.. its amazing how many people don't use utility in this game it can turn fights so easily!
I actually disagree, I think this is perfect for the casual extraction shooter fans, the "die hards" can play Tarkov when it opens at 1.0 later this year. Take me for example, am I a casual? I've got 63 hours in Arc Raiders so far, so I guess not? Am I a die hard extraction shooter fan..I've put hundreds of hours into Hunt Showdown and Tarkov so maybe? However Hunt was ruined by undealt with cheating and Tarkov becomes far too much like work everytime theres a wipe. plus the engine in Tarkov is dog plop and has had no ends of issues over the years. Yet despite the fact that I'm not a casual and I've played hundreds of hours in other extraction shooters, I'll be sticking with Arc Raiders as I prefer its game balance over those other big two in the genre and I dont see myself stopping playing Arc Raiders for a very long time because I'm not in the slightest bit bored as yet, even after 63 hours since release. It might well not be something that by your own admission you'd not play daily in its current form but , just like myself, neither of us is indicative of the masses of the gamebase. I think Arc Raiders will retain its number 1 spot in the genre very well and will continue to be the no.1 in the genre for a considerable length of time. In many ways, they have done to the genre what Blizzard does to genres with great success.nope, played quite a few. played gears of war to death and lots of the division to name just a couple. never bothered much with the pvp in the division due to how pants it was. gears did it well but it's a different game style. i personally just don't think tpp works for pvp is this type of game at least not in a fun way and the more i play this the more i'm convinced of that
it's sort of feels like it's a dumbed down version of pvp to accommodate casual players, which i think is a folly as extraction shooters are a niche game genre, they need the 'die hard' extraction shooter fans onboard but i think they'll end with those players moving on once the novelty wears off which just leaves them with the casual fan base. hopefully that will be enough to keep the game going as it's certainly still a game i'd drop in and out of for a bit of a blast - it's just not something i'd play daily in it's current form.
Is it crashes or losing connection? I've never crashed yet, but I did lose connection twice yesterday. Interestingly I have only ever lost connection when grouped, have never lost connection when soloingThey have to stop this crashing, 3 times today, twice it got me killed. Crashed twice yesterday. Never crashed once in the server slam, really lame.

Yeah...UO...one of my favourite MMOs of all time (and favourite gaming experiences ever full stop), wrecked because the players thought they knew what would make the game better, the devs listened...and it just made the game far worse, killing off the thing which set the game apart from others. Same happened with SWG, another brilliant MMO, ruined because the players said that X and Y and changing Z would be better, devs listened. Ruined the game and consigned the MMO to the failed MMO list. I always really rated Bullfrog as game devs, its why that interview with the Bullfrog guy has always stuck in my mind, one of the few devs I've known who has come out and blatantly stated that sometimes what the player wants might be the best thing for them as an individual but not the best thing for the game (paraphrasing)Totally agree with you and as an old timer UO player remember this well.
