Got lucky with hitting two star bonuses which came up as points. I actually missed on the bonus stage, so could have been even higher!

I'm pretty sure I played this game once in the arcades as a kid. Did it have a wheel control, a bit like Arkanoid? In any case, I think it was a case of missing a pot every shot and never wasting another 20p on it :D

26,400. No luck with star bonuses but did manage a really good first rack and got a 10k+ bonus on that. Threw it all away after a bad break in the 2nd though.

Managed to get to the third rack. It was another 6 ball triangle, like in rack 1, but it broke totally differently and left me with not much to work with.
 
31,300. No bonuses again but did get within 3 of the 3rd rack. Sometimes the balls just lie so awkward after a break.

136,400 after a quick few goes trying out a few of the planes.

The 3.5" screen on my anbernic handheld is NOT suited to bullet hell games, even moreso when they're portrait orientated :D

I've never actually played Pitfighter. Am I right in remembering it was quite a high profile game, but was widely regarded as being crap? Or were the home ports just bad and the arcade version was good?

I was always fond of it. I think it pre-dated Kombat for digitised character models, so back in the day it had a real wow factor. It's a bit clunky to play, but actually still pretty good fun.
 
This game did take a few of my 10p pieces back in Porthcawl fair in the 90s.

First attempt at this game in probably 30 years.
