what do you prefer or like games to be realistic or arcady?

i hate realism in games like gta 4, forza motorsport, clancy advanced warfighter, top spin 3. they really contribute more to my frustration then enjoyment and just take all the fun out of them game. better games for me are like burnout paradise, shadowrun, saints row...

Depends on the game for me.

I know this is the consoles section, but as an example, I love Battlefield 2, however I also love Project Reality (mod for BF2). They are completely different games in terms of realism and I like them both and play which ever one I am in the mood for. More recently that has been PR.

I'd prefer realism, accept for flight sim which I just can't get my head around to.

love forza 2, played burnout paradise demo and got bored quickly, there's just no depth to it.

A happy medium between both, too arcadey and I don't like it too realistic and it takes away all the fun.

Gran Turismo/Forza is about spot on for me, PGR is too arcadey and the SIMBIN(?) racers are just boring and too realistic for their own good.

dont really matter to me as long as the gameplay is good. simulators dont appeal to me though

As long as there is sufficient depth in multi player I'm happy. A common misconception is that arcade = lacks skill but this is certainly not the case!

I would go for both Arcade or Realism as it just totally depends on what the game is.

But if I only had the choice out of one of them, then definately Arcade style games as it is mainly what I grew up with and have more fun. And I am referring to the actual Video Arcades no thanks to the one company that really revolutionised it back in the day, and that was SEGA.

OutRun, Hang-On, Daytona USA, Space Harrier, Virtua Cop, Virtua Figher, Virtua Tennis, The House of the Dead, Initial D.....damn the list can just go on.

I guess as many have said, it completely depends on the game.

That said, I'm more of a recreation than hardcore gamer, and therefore I'd tend to side with arcade style games as they're easier to pick up and dive straight in. Sims require a lot more time and effort to get the most out of them.
