Do these places still exist?
The last time I played an arcade game was
About 12/13 years ago when ridge racer 1 and tekken 1 were out.
If they don’t exist in the UK now is it because home games consoles
Have become so powerful?
If they are still around what did you play recently and are the
Graphics light years ahead of our consoles still? :D

Of course they still exist :p

Ever been to the seaside, they are everywhere!

I played HOTD 4 at Skeg last week. Don't know how long its been out but it was the first time I had seen it.

They're rundown chav hangouts around here, I had a fight the last time I went in there. :/

And the games are outdated and cost to much as well.

so they are not what they used to be then.
so in away they have died?

yep of course there still around. Havent been to an actual arcade for ages but have been to bowling places that have a few arcades. Very outdated, but still fun to play. I had a go on some dance dance revolution thing with my mate after a few beers. still very fun 10 years on!

I would say so yes, there doesn't seem to be any arcade exclusive games anymore.

Also a major draw point for going to the arcade were the accesories and special controll methods for games:
Light guns and steering wheels among others.

But you can now purchase these for use at your own home.

ah right.
can you tell me of these up to date titles.
also are the graphics better than current consoles/top spec pc's ?
there's mario kart arcade
there's a police one where it tracks your movements and to duck you have to physically duck.
There's an arcade version of Outrun

TBH graphics aren't why I go to the arcade - I go for games that include more movement - like the proper race seats etc or the ducking previously mentioned.

yea they are still around, they just aint very popular over here. The graphics aint as good as say the current games we see but you cant beat the arcade experience though of the big screen and controls :D. Yea it gets a bit chavvy now but its still ok

I have not seen any arcade machines for years and tbh i cant see them being that much better graphically than next gen consoles. There is supposed to be a really up to date arcade over in nottingham but i have not been. That said a friend that still follows the progression of arcade machines tells me that they are hugely powerfull but cost up to a fiver a go

I didn't think Mario Kart GP was coming out in Europe?
The ducking and shooting game is old, as is Outrun...

Arcades are dead, the one on the pier here is so outdated it's a total joke. It's basically a chav gambling den.

pretty sure it's on Brighton Pier - could be wrong though.

The ducking one is relatively old, but looks very good for it.

Got one in my local(ish) pub. Its a rip though, even if you come in 1st place you still have to pay to go onto the next race.
Doesn't stop my mates and I piling the pounds into it though. :)

I went to Tokyo recently and its completly different there!

Everyone from children to adults play in arcades, their are special games like mmorpgs that you all sit at and use special collectable cards that you scan into the machine and fight each other etc! their was a beetle one where you fight eachother is was everywhere! shops selling dvds with beetles fighting each other and weird storys etc, dont know if its out here yet?

Their was a guy playing that drum game in akiharbara out on the street and their were loads of people cheering and clapping (he was a master at it)

Things are so different in Japan (I love it)

Its like a way of life to them, also they buy toys etc without feeling stupid.

last arcade i went to was at skeggy last year. and most of them are horribly out dated, though not sayin time crisis doesnt rule still :)

played HOTD 4 i think it was with the big ass shotgun type things, thats great fun till your arms give up half way through the game as the guns are that heavy

The arcades are still alive and well on Barry Island. Tend to be more dancemania etc stuff in em now tho.
