Rumors of a reboot taking place for Archeage which would see the game re-launched as P2P with no cash shop, no stupid labor system and a game that resembles the alpha version that players loved.

TrionWorlds managed to completely ruin the game so hopefully Gamigo will have a go at putting things right...we'll find out in 3 days!

In alpha and beta Archeage was one of the best MMOs I ever played, I was pumped for release, sadly within a month or two of release the game was ruined by exploiters and people using methods to always get to place buildings first and it made it nigh on impossible to get land, you couldnt beat them to the land, which in turn killed any hope of player run towns doing well and the whole thing felt pointless then and our guild left the game with only the memories of how good the alpha/beta was before the unwashed masses were allowed into the game to spoil it
 
Seems like they're trying a last ditch attempt to milk everything possible from this game, I might actually give it a try though as Archeage on paper could have been the best MMO ever
 
As much as I really enjoyed the Alpha for this game, I not sure if I want to give it another chance after how they ruined the community after launch. Will wait and see how it looks closer to the re-release.

They already got enough money out of me for the alpha access then ruined it a month after launch. Shame but it's not the first MMO to get a bait and switch once launched, Tera was the same.
 
Completely agreed Trion absolutely messed things up, this was evident by the amount of abuse Scapes and Haartman got on the forum and social media.

However, I'm taking this as a fresh start with a different model and willing to give it a go.
 
i remember when the new island opened and within about 10 mins chinese hackers had taken all the available build plots. People couldn't have even sailed there in that time frame.

Which in someways is good because the p2w won’t carry over at all but a bummer if you’ve put a lot of money into it..

Also makes me think it might just be a cash grab..

Time will tell

I'm ok with it being two different sets of servers, thats pretty much the same as all MMOs which have classic servers or new progression servers or new "clean" start servers, but what I am not ok with is having to buy the game again. I've already bought it once, you would think that given that fact they could simply enable my account for the fresh servers. Having to buy the game a 2nd time for the fresh start does smack a bit of a money grab. It would be like Blizzard insisting that you buy a whole new copy of WoW in order to play the classic servers even if you already have the retail WoW.

Yeah, I totally agree. They will probably allow it because there will be more out there who feel the same.
 
Damn, I wasn't going to do it but just bought a pack ;p

Tbh, I'm looking forward to playing it again, it's been a long time and I never got to max level previously as the P2W put me off.
