Hi

I'm a fool. I managed to get a touch of Arctic 5 on the reverse side of my CPU... I know crazy... anyway I was just tinting the correct side and managed to smudge a bit from my fingers onto other side.. I have removed it as gently as possible with cotton buds and looking at the chip you would never know it had been there.. I am concerned however that what I have done is a serious no-no and will cause me problems when I boot up..

Thisis my first time with Arctic 5 or any thermal compound so I am sure I am being overly cautious but I still can't believ I got smudge on other side..

CPU is an I ntel Core 2 Quad.. smudge was only on gold dots around inner square if that makes sense...

Any advice fo a fool?

Intel chips are easy enough to clean, I've cleaned some mx3 off the bottom of a e5200 using a cotton bud and a couple of drops of arcticlean before and all was fine. AMD chips are more of a pain to get stuff off the pins. :)

cheers mate i'll give it a go.. it is fairly spotless now.. I have just been stripping & cleaning & applying thermal paste to my 2 yr old PC and is really 1st time for me for a lot of it... regretting starting it but too late now..! I think it is just fear of the unknown.. lets be honest not really rocket science for the most part..
