Arctic Cooler mod

today i have modded the arctic cooler, which i used on my 6800nu. it is now being used on my 7600GT

after abit of sawing and filing it now fits perfectly. the noise had reduced a lot, haven't tryed it under load yet but it now idles at 41°c compared to 50°c with the stock fan.
i would say it has been worth it, here are some comparison pics

well bordom hit me square on in the face so i tryed something else

my old fan off my athlon xp heatsink
and tbh, it works very well, quieter than the arctic cooler. idle at 43°c

well the metal bar that runs across the top of the card helps keep it nice and sturdy. plus it isnt that heavy anyway

Nice mod there. Put a delta on the heatsink and overclock the heck out of that card

if only i saved my 80mm one

and im still using the cpu fan, idleing at 38°c

By the way, how are you finding the 7600GT over your 6800NU ?

a lot better tbh. smaller card, quieter, runs cooler, use less power, a lot better in games especially where HDR is involved

is it where they fastened a fan from the stock hsf of the athlon 64's to the 7800GT/X cooler?

the case fan will be helping out cool the 7600GT too :

btw all pics were taken using the fujifilm finepix S5000 at 6MP. i also did the window for the case

looks like im good for 660/1710 - under load temp at this speed is just 45°c!

well it kept on pausing for short periods at 660, any ideas why or simply cant it do that speed?

yeah, its only running 3°c hotter than my cpu when under load

thats how i got it too 650 in the first place

whats up with 3d mark '03?
i start it at 650/1700, then about 10 secs into the first test it pauses for about 5 seconds. doesn't pause again throughout the whole benchmark, just in that place. my result is also lower because of it
any ideas why?

well i discovered why 3d mark '03 & '05 were pausing, the pencil had rubbed off
so now im at 670/1740 - still artifact free. will run 3d mark '05 in abit

rivatuner hasnt been updated to support the 7600GT yet
i cured it anyway, the pencil mod had rubbed off

that is one of the good things i like about this card, the volt modding is so easy! and if it doesn't like it just rub it off
