Im running a Phenom II X4 965 and it can get into mid fifties under full load which is fine but the fan makes a lot of noise etc on stock cooler that came with it.

Is the arctic cooler pro better than the phenom stock one and would the temps decrease ?

You mean the freezer 7 pro? then yes it's a lot better than stock and easily the best you can get for the money. You should notice a huge difference in temp and noise.

Easy to get one of these fitted the wrong way around. The fan sucks air out of the heatsink rather than blowing air into it.

the fan on a arctic cooler will only fit one way it wont clip the other way.
The fan exhausts on the opposite side to where it's clipped

Be worth checking to see if it fits before buying - on some motherboards (inc. mine: MA770T-UD3) it slightly overhangs the DIMM socket closest to the CPU. I only use two sticks so was able to solve it by using the other pair of DIMM slots, but if you don't have any spare slots it may be a problem.

I have this heatsink/fan and can also say that it does a great job. Highly recommended.

Fair comment though about the first dimm slot as if you have memory with heatsinks that are quite high then it may cause a problem but with only 2 stick then it is easily solved.
