I wanna ditch the stock cooler from my XFX 8800 Ultra XT and replace it with an aftermarket cooler. I've been trawling the internet to get some ideas on what to use and wondered if anybody has had any experience with the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme.

I've read a couple of reviews that claim this is one of the best aftermarket coolers out there but wanted to get some feedback from anybody who is using this cooler, whats you're opinion.

I think my GTX is naturally hotter than most anyway (probably due to bad IHS contact) but in general I lost about 20-40 degrees from idle-load over stock cooling. I'd say @ 100% fan duty it's louder than the stock, but at standard auto/60% it's definitely quieter, and at 80% is ~stock 100% noise-levels.

I'm tempted to detach the 3x80mm and mount a 120mm fan below it and compare temps :D

If I get one of these are there any tips on removing the stock cooler, is it an easy process?

I just sat at my desk with a small phillips driver and removed the stock cooler screws, gave it a litlle twist and it came off.
Then all you do is put the new pads on (give them chips a good clean first http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-000-AC&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=27) and the 4 heat sinks. and finally put the accelroon and plug the fan into the card
