Will a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler fit an am2 mobo socket?

nope, IIRC AM2 uses a diferent clip

As far as I know, no. I also checked on Arctic Cooling's website and there is no mention of AM2 anywhere.

The Freezer 64 Pro will fit the AM2 Socket, as it's Socket 940, which is stated on the Artic Cooling site.

940 is not AM2 - I asked this Q a while ago and the 'missing' pins are in a different position

The Freezer 64 Pro should fit AM2. Madshrimps did a list of which coolers will and will not fit AM2. Here it is.

The stock AM2 cooler is like a hairdrier. Tried to buy a quiet rig. Got an Antec Sonata II, mobo with no onboard fan and a X1800 XT. Was expecting the X1800 XT to be the main noise polluter but it's nearly always silent. All I keep hearing is the AM2 cooler taking off when I start a game. Has anyone found a decent quiet AM2 cooler for around £15 yet?

Well according to the post above you the freezer 64 pro... or just buy a 120mm akasa amber and mount it over the cpu heatsink
