Hi guys.

Up until yesterday i was using the above to cool my intel 630 chip, it has always been fairly loud and i purchased this after reading the reviews and comments on OCuk saying that it was virtually silent and would dramatically reduce temps etc etc.

Unfortunately i have always found it to be loud and as for temperatures well they were always about as follows:-

Off Load ~ 53 degrees
Under full load ~ 68-70 degrees

This has always been a cause for concern and instead of looking at the CPU cooling for the solution i tried all manner of different things to reduce temps such as better case fans, an exhaust unit etc etc

So yesterday i bit the bullet and tried something else....a Xilence Air Engine 775....the results are amazing, it is much quieter than the arctic cooling unit and the temps are now as follows:-

Off load ~ 41 degrees
Under Full Load ~52-54 degrees

What did i do wrong with the arctic cooling unit, or was it just a dodgy item from new....i really wanted to stick with it as it had such good reviews.

Oh i better put some specs in....

Motherboard - AsRock775VM800
Ram - 2Gb GeIL PC3200 DDR400
CPU - Intel Pentium 4 630 / 3 GHz (MX-1 TIM)
PSU - OCZ GameXStream 600w

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
